Facebook

As the world’s largest social network, this is the one to get right!

 

Profile 180 x 180 pixels. Appears as 170 x 170 on a desktop and 128 x 128 on smartphones. 

Cover 820 x 312 pixels. Displays as 820 x 312 on a desktop and 640 x 360 on smartphones. Less than 100KB is recommended. Consider a PNG file for images including text or a logo. 

Post 1,200 x 630 pixels. Shows as a maximum length of 470 pixels in a newsfeed and 504 on your page. 

 

 

Twitter

Twitter has recently undertaken some big changes to its algorithms, so ensure your visual content size is up to date to maximise this useful platform. 

 

Profile 400 x 400 pixels. Shows as 200 x 200. Maximum file size of 5MB. Suitable image types are JPG, GIF and PNG. 

Cover 1500 x 500 pixels, no larger than 5MB in JPG, GIF or PNG format. 

Post Twitter’s platform automatically scales uploaded images, but there are some best practices to follow in accordance with each type of post; for a single image: 1200 x 675 pixels, for two images: 700 x 800 pixels (for both pictures), for three: 700 x 800 pixels for the left image and 1200 x 686 pixels for the two on the right, for four: 1200 x 600 pixels (per image). For an image with a shared link, aim for 1200 x 600 pixels. 

 

 

Instagram

Profile 110 x 110 pixels with a square aspect ratio of 1:1.

Post 1080 x 1080 pixels, displays at 612 x 612, or in your feed at 510 x 510. Thumbnail grid size in your profile appears at: 161 x 161 pixels.

Story 1080 x 1920 pixels with an aspect ratio of 9:16. Minimum resolution of: 600 x 1067.
